What is a Concours? Also known as a Show and Shine, the Patroon Concours is a day that starts with a Car Show, continues with a Road Rally after lunch (yes, lunch), and ends with a Banquet Dinner.

How clean does my car need to be? There are multiple levels of cleanliness. Check out the sample judging sheets (coming soon). There is Clean (Exterior/Interior), Super Clean (Clean +trunk +engine bay), Concours (Super Clean +underbody). And if you just don't want to clean, there's the Dirty Dog. If ou're shy, a Display Only category is available.

What is the Road Rally About? This year we are going to take two different rallies. The first is a typical BMW Saturday afternoon cruise to enjoy the beauty an Upstate New York summer has to offer. The second is a technical drive through some twisty backroads where paying attention to the road is more important than the scenery.

9:00 – 10:00 “Day-of” registration for anyone not pre-registered and final cleaning and detailing

10:00 – 12:00 Vehicle judging

12:00 – 1:30 Catered Lunch for entrants courtesy of Keeler Motor Car Company

2:00 – 4:00 Road Rally to Skidmore College

4:00 – 5:00 Cocktail hour at Skidmore College, Saratoga Springs

5:00 – 6:15 Dinner at the Skidmore College (pre-registration required)

6:15 – 7:00 Awards Presentation

Rules Cars will compete in one of four cleanliness levels: Clean, Super Clean, Concours, or Dirty Dog. There are multiple model categories that are separated by “Classic” – approximately 1960’s and 70’s, “Second Generation” – 1980’s, “Third Generation” – 1990’s, “Fourth Generation” – 2000’s, and “Fifth Generation” – including E90, E92, E60, E63, E65, new Z4 and “Modified/Tuner” vehicles. Model categories may be combined within their cleanliness category depending on the number of entries. A “Best in Show” will be chosen for both Classic and Late model cars based on appearance, cleanliness, and rarity of model.

Entrants must be a member of the BMW CCA or may join at a reduced rate on the day of the event.
Entrants must own/lease the car entered. Entrants may enter multiple cars. Entry fees must be paid for each car.
Entrants that fit multiple categories must choose the category they wish to compete in before judging begins.
Modified/Tuner cars are cars with significant non-OEM add-ons and modifications that significantly affect the aesthetic value of the automobile. They are all judged “Super Clean”.
Vehicle categories are subject to combination and/or separation in order to generate fair and meaningful competition. Accordingly, cars will be placed in competition groups based on:
1. the number of registrants for similar year/model vehicles, i.e., all entries must compete against other entered vehicles (no winning by default)
2. the age of the vehicle, and
3. the vehicle model
Cars will be judged on a 1-5 scale overall, based on similar scoring for interior, exterior (for “Clean” category), engine, trunk (added for “Super Clean” category), and undercarriage (added for “Concours”). Elements to be considered: cleanliness, original equipment, and overall appearance. Modified/Tuner vehicles will be judged on showmanship, complexity, and fit and finish.
Separate awards: in addition to 1^st, 2^nd, and 3^rd place winners for each model and cleanliness class, there will be a single:
1. “Best of Show” awarded for Classic and Late models based on appearance, cleanliness, and rarity of model.
2. “People’s Choice” award, determined by popular vote.
3. “Dirty Dog” award, determined by the ravages of time, neglect, and general disarray.
